I hit the jackpot last week when I went to the Scrap Box in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Scrap Box is a creative recycle center where you can find all kinds of "stuff" to make art. It is a mixed media artists heaven.
I found 11 of these binders that are perfect for art journaling. They are:
- perfect size for journaling & storing
- have large metal D rings
- can hold 3D items (things that stick out) easily
- great surface for altering
- inexpensive, favorite part
First, I painted them with gesso and followed up with black acrylic paint to create an underpainting.
Next, I stenciled over them with game board waste.
I also found this game board waste at the Scrap Box. I loved the shapes and graphic designs they can create...and they are repurposing an item headed for the landfill....bonus.
This is what it looked like after using the game board waste.
I then stamped flowers using my own designs...here's another project I used this stamp on.
I LOVE how they turned out...they'll look great on my shelf too. In order to keep track of the binders, I decided to number them using gesso and a stencil. Now I have 9 more to do.
